Thursday, May 1 at 7 a.m.; Doors open at 6:15 a.m.
The 13th annual “National Day of Prayer” breakfast will be held Thursday, May 1 at the Wicomico Civic Center.
For over 90 years, Christians have carried on this tradition of fellowship and goodwill across the country as witness to the importance of spiritual values to this great nation. Prayer breakfasts richly reward the spiritual growth of communities. They give us the opportunity to fellowship and share our faith in the Living God, to worship and rejoice in a spirit of unity at the breakfast hour.
Guest speaker Jedd Medefind serves as President of the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO), which unites more than 290 respected organizations in joint initiatives to better the lives of vulnerable children and families.
Previously, Jedd led the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. In this post, he led reform efforts across government to make the creativity and compassion of local nonprofits central in all Federal efforts to aid the needy, from prisoner reentry to Global AIDS. He also held a range of posts in the California State Legislature and helped establish the California Community Renewal Project, which strengthens nonprofits in some of the state’s most challenged communities.
Jedd has worked, studied and served in more than forty countries, from Christian Life Bangladesh to Price-Waterhouse in Moscow. He speaks frequently on issues related to whole-person leadership, spiritual formation, the flourishing of children, technology and more. He has authored four books and many articles and has been interviewed by outlets ranging from the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post to Christianity Today and The Gospel Coalition. Jedd co-authored Four Souls, which explores questions of faith, purpose, poverty and community amidst a real-life journey around the globe.
